Physical Education (Mrs. Minick)
Your child will participate in Physical Education once a week for 40 minutes. It is important that your child dress appropriately for activity on this day. For safety reasons, tennis shoes are required.
My main goal for CIS' Physical Education program is to develop movers who want to be active for a lifetime. High quality physical education enhances the physical, mental, and social/emotional development of every student and incorporates fitness education and assessment to help the students understand and improve their physical well-being.
Your child will be involved in many different activities, such as fitness testing, team building, and cooperative sports. Our fitness unit measures and determines your child's abdominal strength/endurance, upper body strength, hamstring and lower back flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. During our team building units, students are taught basic skills, rules of the game, proper equipment use, and how to work cooperatively as a team.
If your child has any health concerns, please notify me in written form. If for some reason your child is unable to participate at any time, please send a note to the Physical Education class with him/her. Please instruct your child to give the note directly to me. Often times, notes are given to a classroom teacher or to the main office, and we do not receive them in time for class. Your child will be excused for the specified amount of time stated on the note.
